This seminar will explore the imaginary of jihad in the Sahel region, from the idea of the Umma’s expanding frontiers to the region’s emergence as a central theatre of contemporary conflict. It will examine how jihadist movements represent territory, community, violence, and belonging, while considering the political and social dynamics that have shaped their rise.
